When Joshua had dismissed the people, the sons of Israel went each to his inheritance to possess the land. The people served theLordall the days of Joshua, and all the days of the elders whosurvived Joshua, who had seen all the great work of theLordwhich He had done for Israel. Then Joshua the son of Nun, the servant of theLord, died at the age of one hundred and ten.And they buried him in the territory ofhis inheritance in Timnath-heres, in the hill country of Ephraim, north of Mount Gaash. All that generation also were gathered to their fathers; and there arose another generation after them whodid not know theLord, nor yet the work which He had done for Israel. Then the sons of Israel didevil in the sight of theLordand[b]served theBaals, andthey forsook theLord, the God of their fathers, who had brought them out of the land of Egypt, and followed other gods fromamongthe gods of the peoples who were around them, and bowed themselves down to them; thus they provoked theLordto anger. Judges 2:6-12 (NASB)

We have unlimited access to vast amounts of information in the West. So, why is the gap between who we want to be and who we are wider than ever? I once heard this phrase, "you say what you know, but you reproduce what you are." What would the church have to look like to reproduce a generation of Passionate Jesus Followers? Pastor Miranda

Andthey devoted themselves to the apostles'teaching and thefellowship, tothe breaking of bread and the prayers. And awe[a]came upon every soul, andmany wonders and signs were being done through the apostles. And all who believed were together andhad all things in common.Andthey were selling their possessions and belongings and distributing the proceeds to all, as any had need. And day by day, attending the templetogether andbreaking bread in their homes, they received their foodwith glad and generous hearts, praising God andhaving favor with all the people. And the Lordadded to their numberday by day those whowere being saved.

Acts 2:42-47 (ESV)

Before big cathedrals tuned into fancy light shows, followers of Jesus met in homes to eat and drink together as a family. In our culture, this idea of eating and drinkingtogether around a table in homeswith fellow brother's and sisters has been lost. What if we sought to recover this beautiful act of a shared meal as a vital unifying force amongst followers of Jesus? Pastor Miranda

In that day there will be a highway from Egypt to Assyria,

and Assyria will come into Egypt, and Egypt into Assyria,

and the Egyptians will worship with the Assyrians.

Isaiah 19:23 (ESV)

Our youth pastor, Joshua Wenzek, recently returned from a 2-week mission in the nation of Iraq. He saw firsthand how the Lord is moving in this ancient place to fulfill His Word to Egypt and Assyria. In days to come, this “highway” will run right through Israel! “In that day Israel will be the third with Egypt and Assyria,a blessing in the midst of the earth, whom theLordof hosts has blessed, saying, “Blessed be Egyptmy people, and Assyriathe work of my hands, andIsrael my inheritance.” Pastor Mark

Then some of the Pharisees and teachers of the law said to him, “Teacher, we want to see a signfrom you.”He answered,“...none will be given… except the sign of the prophet Jonah.

For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of a huge fish,so the Son of Manwill be three days

and three nights in the heart of the earth.

Matthew 12:38-40 (ESV)

They were questioning the truth of the claims of Jesus, much like many people do today. They wanted an authenticating sign—a miracle for everyone to see. Jesus called that, “wicked and adulterous.” He then referred to an even greater “fish story,” one that many still stumble over today. What are we to do with this? I suggest we consider the claim: it is, in fact, Historic Truth. All our hopes are based on this claim. Do you believe? Pastor Mark

I tell you“Make a tree good and its fruit will be good, or make a tree bad and its fruit will be bad, for a tree is recognized by its fruit. You brood of vipers, how can you who are evil say anything good? For the mouth speakswhat the heart is full of.A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in him, and an evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in him.But I tell you that everyone will have to give account on the day of judgment for every empty word they have spoken. For by your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned.” Matthew 12:33-37 (ESV)

Jesus is Lord of the Sabbath, so we are called to operate out of rest. But with so many divisions and conflicts and disputes, how is that possible with the war of words raging around us? Fruit Inspection is something we all must be aware of—but it starts with inspecting our own fruit. Jesus says, careless words get us into trouble...with Him!

This morning, let’s consider the fruit of our lips. Pastor Mark

I tell you that something greater than the temple is here.If you had known what these words mean, ‘I desire mercy,

not sacrifice,’ you would not have condemned the innocent.

For the Son of Manis Lord of the Sabbath.”

Matthew 12:6-8 (ESV)

Seems we are always questioning authority. This is nothing new. Jesus’ authority was questioned on many occasions. How are we to judge whether one’s authority is true and administered with justice?

Jesus demonstrated His authority by what He did and, even more so, how He did it. Today we discover, Jesus Is Lord. Pastor Mark

Then he began to denounce the cities where most of his mighty works had been done, because they did not repent. “Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the mighty works done in you had been done inTyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes. But I tell you, it will be more bearable onthe day of judgment forTyre and Sidon than for you.

Matthew 11:20-30 (ESV)

As we mark the 242nd year of the birth of this nation it’s normal to enjoy the fireworks and festivities. But its also a good time for us as believers in Jesus to take account of the health of our nation and what we should be doing in response. This morning we will take a few moments to consider, Kingdom Accountability. Pastor Mark

Then Jacob awoke from his sleep and said,

“Surely theLordisin this place, and I did not know it.”

And he was afraid and said, “How awesome is this place! This is none other than the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven.”

Genesis 28:16-17 (ESV)

There is great contention in the world today regarding the sovereign rights of the people of Israel. Rather than a mere geopolitical disagreement, this conflict has at its heart the revelation of God to each one of us. As we approach the half-way point on our journey through the Book of Matthew, I think we should get in touch with our roots. Pastor Mark

Religion that is pure and undefiled before God the Father is this:to visitorphans and widows in their affliction, andto keep oneselfunstained from the world.

James 1:27 (ESV)

Happy Father’s Day! God manifests Himself in a special way in every man. As our heavenly Father He longs to bless us with His heart for others. This is the Father’s Heart—to move toward all those who need the loving presence of God in every stage and circumstance of life. It’s God’s gift through every man. Pastor Joshua
